Bring the family to Glastonbury 2010

By Michael Eavais

Glastonbury is the name on everyone's lips when it comes to where to go and the best festivals to visit. The media constantly show the great times that people have there and the attractions bring people back year after year so that they can have an increasingly exciting time as each year's festivities begin. Glastonbury 2010 is going to be the best yet with even more people coming from all over the UK and beyond.

Glastonbury has an extra special anniversary coming up this year as it will be celebrating its 40th. Only the best festivals will have been going this long and continue to be successful each year. The media have rumoured after a comment made by the lead singer that Pulp will be reforming in time for the festivities to start.

Not only does the festival show many bands that have made it to the top of the charts and into your CD collection, you will also find up and coming bands that have not been signed yet. Imagine being there, seeing them at their first big performance, the place they were discovered. See the raw talent before the TV appearances and have the honour of becoming one of their first fans.

The popularity of this festival has seen people more than a year before the actual event flocking and sitting around with their phones glued to their ears so that they can get in on the action and not miss out. The first selling was sold out within a few hours, but for those people still wanting to get theirs they are now back on sale for a limited time.

If you have been to other festivals and are going to Glastonbury this year you will feel that the others are nothing in comparison. Stages are all around the area meaning that no matter your tastes in entertainment you are bound to find something to occupy you throughout your stay. All the stages mean that even if the one you are near to is not what you are into you only need to take a stroll to one of the other events to get you into the mood.

The stage that is the most popular is called the pyramid stage. The reason for this is that this is the one where the people who have made their name and fame perform along with the unsigned act that wins the opportunity to play on this well known stage. Definitely venture to the other attractions though, as you do not want to like others, leave it till the last day and feel you have not enjoyed the festival in its entirety.

Everyone who is at Glastonbury is there to have a good time, and many have met up with old friends and made new ones that they have continued to stay in contact with and share their experiences for years after.

If you do not want to be at one with nature and want to visit but don't want to camp out there are many other accommodation options, however you should make sure that you pre book as this is one of the busiest times of year so you will find that the places go pretty quick, just like the festival tickets.

Another option if you want something a bit more toned down and to suit every member of the family is to visit the cinema tent. There are viewings around the clock and the mornings are usually kept for family friendly films. Not only this, you will also be able to see the latest blockbusters in 3D which will keep everyone happy from the youngest, to the oldest fans. - 23815
