Gunparade March Volume 1 is a new anime series which is based on the popular Playstation video game. The new DVD will be released in August 2009 and will feature the first four episodes of the 12 episode series. The series is directed by Katsushi Sakurabi and the story follows a group of young men and women who are fresh out of high school but have been drafted into the army in order to protect their world from the threats of invasion.

One of the main characters is someone called Mai Shubamura who is a mysterious young girl who ends up affecting all of the people who she meets. The story also follows the young men and women as they go through everyday problems of adolescence including feelings for each other. The whole series is a light hearted romantic drama which is set against a thrilling sci-fi background of fighting, battles and mecha robots and various other sci-fi characters.
