The difference between a grand piano and a digital piano really does depend on who you are at the end of the day. This is because to different people, the differences will mean alternate things. Some differences are noticeable to some people while some are not even worth mentioning as details to others. While we cant cover the entire spectrum of people that might use a grand piano or a digital piano in this article, some of the major groups of people are below.

The Average Joe

To the Average Joe, the practicality of the situation is really what matters. They are not interested in the minute details surrounding the sales of pianos but rather are interested in knowing how the two pianos will compare to each other when it actually comes to using the piano in order to get something good musically. For this type of person, there is really no difference between the grand piano and the digital piano. Both piano types will get them the music that they need and for this reason they are likely to go with whichever option is the more cost effective one at the time (usually the digital piano) if they do decide to make the large purchase.

The Classical Musician

There are many musicians in the world today and not all of them are classical. When you get an audition for a commercial you should be thrilled. Getting the audition alone is like winning the lottery and a spot hundreds and thousands of other actors would like to be in. Therefore you want to make the most out of your opportunity and convince the casting director you're the right one for the role or at the very least make them want to call you in again for another audition.

1. No headshot Your headshot and resume are how you are identified and your calling card as they list all your personal attributes and agent contact information. Showing up without a stapled headshot and resume is like saying you're not serious about your job.

2. Touch the casting director Think about it, would you want to be touched by hundreds of actors each day? Not really. If they don't offer to shake your hand don't try to make the gesture. Go in, do your job and get out. Period. They don't want your germs.

3. Chewing bubblegum Fresh breath is nice and all but you need to spit out that gum before you enter the audition room. Chewing gum on camera looks miserable and will ruin your audition. The only exception is if the casting director or script specifically asks you to chew gum.

4. Excessive talking A polite "hello" or "how are you doing" is fine but much more than that or a question is too much. They have a job to do and so do you, stick to that and you'll be respected more.

5. Unscheduled auditions Unscheduled auditions or "crashing a casting" is unacceptable. You can be banned or blacklisted for doing this. If you really think you're right for something and weren't called in you can ask the casting director if you may audition, don't just sign in. They might say yes, they might not, respect that decision.

6. Being late Auditioning is your job, don't show up late. Like every other job they do take notice and will consider all factors in hiring you if it comes down to it.

7. Having excuses for everything Don't create an excuse for everything from being late to not knowing about the wardrobe or getting the sides in time. Honestly they don't care. It doesn't matter so just deal with it and do your best.

8. Talk about acting, singing or dancing If asked a general personality question don't talk about acting, singing or dancing. Everyone in the entertainment world can act, sing and dance. It's nothing new. Show them a different part of your personality. Talk about things you believe in, your volunteer work or your favorite things to do with your free time. Be a real person.

9. Uncalled for behavior Don't be rude to anyone, it will come back and bite you in the ass. They want to hire someone who will be a pleasure to work with on set and anyone who is rude or out of hand will just be trouble for the crew.

10. Lie You'll only get caught. When they ask you if you can ice skate and blow bubbles if you can't then just admit it but say something to the effect that you're a fast learner or happen to do other things.
