The 7 Best Childrens Movies

By Trevor Allmanson

Lately, I have been babysitting my nieces and nephews with some regularity. Not being a parent myself, I feel more confident watching movies I have pre-viewed rather than letting the kids watch television, we watch movies. These are my favorite seven family movies.

1) Monsters Inc. " What kid isnt afraid of monsters? And to have the chance to turn screams into laughter I could watch it over and over again.

2) Toy Story " Its a great story for all kids, especially the older child who has to deal with someone new coming into his world and possibly usurping the attention he used to get.

3) Finding Nemo " Is a story about how children need to be left to make their own decisions as part of growing up. The characters and story are well developed, and the animation is beautiful.

4) The Little Mermaid " This movie may have come out decades ago, but the animation is still wonderful. And the music gets everyone up on their feet.

5) ET " hosts one of the most iconic movie moments. Elliot riding his bicycle past the moon. This is a classic story of inter-species friendship. The effects are a bit dated, but the story is a classic.

6) Big " What child does not dream of being big?

7) The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe " This is tale of true courage and character. Watch the movie carefully, can you believe the lion is completely computer generated? Wow! - 23815
