Policeman Garner attempts to solve massacre of pregnant female, with fearsome Doberman pinscher figuring significantly. Not bad, yet a disappointment. Cast includes James Garner, Katharine Ross, Hal Holbrook, Harry Guardino, June Allyson, Peter Lawford, and Ann Rutherford.
The Sinister Urge from 1960. Devoted cops Duncan and Moore set out to bash the "smut film racket," which is run by a brassy blonde. Illustrates with absolute confidence how photographs of overweight women clothed in just their underwear can be a major cause of adolescent wrongdoing. Johnny Case finds himself betrothed to a millionaire's daughter and he must make a decision between a profession in big business or living life as a holiday. 1938 version includes Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant among others.
Good Times was released in 1967. Back while the harmonizing twosome was still considered wacky, they made this entertaining little film, with Sonny daydreaming about their potential film roles and he and Cher harmonizing "I Got You Babe." Cast includes Sonny and Cher, George Sanders, Norman Alden, and Larry Duran.
Sing, You Sinners from 1938. Gambling Crosby couldn't confront accountability, in spite of of jabbing his brother MacMurray. Three brothers with diverse interests have a singing act. Can the other two siblings save the day when the gambling brother bets on a "sure thing"? Includes Wesley Ruggles, Bing Crosby, Fred MacMurray, Donald O'Connor, Elizabeth Patterson, Ellen Drew, and John Gallaudet.
The Meteor Man from 1993. Townsend plays a tentative, nerdy school teacher with a terror of heights who gets hit by an abnormal emerald green meteor that turns him into a superhero. Excellent "Superman in the Hood" storyline, bursting of good values, but very few really funny minutes. Cast includes Robert Townsend, Marla Gibbs, Eddie Griffin, Robert Guillaume, James Earl Jones, Roy Fegan, and Bill Cosby.
The Defiant in 1958 is a preoccupying account of 2 runaway convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from prison in the South. Fine performances by Williams and Chaney as individuals they meet during the voyage. Academy Prize for screenplay by Harold Jacob Smith and Nathan E. Cast includes Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier, Theodore Bike, Charles McGraw, Carnie Williams, and Lon Chaney, Jr. - 23815
