Review of the Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10
When one considers entry level HD TV sets, one scarcely expects to see a TV capable of producing a full 1080p resolution. One entry level set that does just that is the Panasonic Viera TX-L32S10. This 32 inch viewable set produces very high quality HD images and costs less than nearly all models with this capability.
There are so many positives with the Panasonic TX-L32S10, that it's hard to even consider the downsides to it. However, it needs to be noted that there is an issue with calibrating the backlight and colour outputs from the main onscreen menu. It's a very simple onscreen menu but that may be a downer for some more advanced users.
With SD and 720p resolution, there is a 1 to 1 pixel mapping capability, making the clearest resolution possible. With this Panasonic TX-L32S10 1080p resolution, there is not 1 to 1 mapping but the quality is incredible. There is no edge enhancement but that doesn't seem to cause any issues, in fact, those using 60p games through xbox and their PS3's seem to really like this set.
It can be an issue, but not a big one, mind you; for those who are planning on using the Panasonic TX-L32S10 high definition TV as their monitor for their desktop computer. The only thing that is lacking is the ability to map to 1 to 1 pixel which may cause a bit of an issue if you're going to use a lot of text driven applications. Other than that, you will be fine with this television. The price just can't be beat, not when you consider all of the perks you'll get with this television.
You may think that you're going to lose somewhere with this low priced set, probably with the sound quality. However, once again, you'll be pleasantly surprised. The sound quality is great, especially when you look at the placement of the speakers - pointing slightly downwards. Panasonic was obviously trying to make front presentation as good as possible on the Panasonic TX-L32S10 but they could have taken a little more consideration when it came to placement. However, this doesn't cause any lack of quality sound.
Sound quality is amazingly good considering that the speakers on the TX-L32S10 are down turned to keep them from showing so much when one is viewing the set from the front. While it could be improved by aiming the speakers differently, the mid range sound reproduction (speech) is more than adequate under most casual viewing conditions.
Anyone wishing to improve the sound production to make the viewing experience on the TX-L32S10 more like going to the cinema can add a high quality home theatre sound system or a surround system with ease.
As an entry level high definition television set, the Panasonic TX-L32S10 is more than adequate to the task of producing incredibly sharp high definition images. All of the inaccuracies in reproduction that were noted would not be noticeable to the average viewer, or to a technician, without a reference image to compare the image to. There are some much more expensive sets that performed better, but for the difference in price, the ability to fine tune all aspects of the screen is hardly worthwhile for most viewers. - 23815
