Straight Time: Hoffman knocks heads with greasy parole officer Walsh following his discharge from penitentiary and starts a downward skid. An immersing if not specifically differentiated melodrama that gets a genuine shot in the arm from tremendous aiding behaviors. Hoffman commenced prompting the film himself, and then he turned it over to Grosbard.
