Awkward clumps of humor only make the contrived structure appear even more mindless. (92 minutes, 1992)

The Plough and the Stars: Boring, theatrical filmizations of Sean O'Casey's play with Foster as Irish revolutionary leader and Stanwyck as long-agonizing spouse who prays for his life. Wiseman and Stiller offer fine aid as his cold hearted dad and a con man he naively believes in. Lots of recognizable faces in tiny roles: Tony Roberts, Richard Shull, John Fiedler, Jo Van Fleet, William Hickey, Eileen Heckart, and numerous others. Cast includes Robin Williams, Joseph Wiseman, Jerry Stiller, and Glenne Headly. (93 minutes, 1986)
