How to Rip WMV to DVD Format with Quickness and Ease

By Bryon Serven

Windows Media Video, or WMV format files, are digital video files associated with Microsoft's Windows Media Player. WMV is a video codec designed by Microsoft for their Window's operating system.

WMV files often carry a DRM, or digital rights management, protection. This is quite common because Microsoft is a company which tends to protect its content and provides support to users for further protection.

DVD ( Digital Video Disc ) is an optical data storage device which can hold large capacities of digital data like high quality video and movies. A VOB ( DVD Video Object or Versioned Object Base ) file is a container format for DVD video files.

An explanation of VOB files is beyond the scope of this article, but a study of the software part of the DVD format is essentially a study of the VOB container file format. With CDs or Compact Discs becoming virtually obsolete with the emergence of high capacity storage HD DVDs and Blueray discs, more and more video editing tools are geared to conversion between these two highly popular media formats, WMV to DVD.

Online streaming video is often rife with copyright violation and peer to peer file sharing. Most videos you download from the internet are in WMV format. If you wanted to take your WMV files and turn them into a DVD collection, you'll be needing a WMV to DVD conversion program.

To do this you'll need to unlock the DRM protection on the WMV file and then burn the file to a DVD using any DVD burning software. It would be pretty cool to find some software that could both unlock the DRM and then immediately burn the files to DVD.

The Aplus WMV to DVD converter will take convert of footage from multiple movies and episodic files to standard MPEG2 Video and burn it into a DVD seamlessly.

I am hoping that this article has been helpful and useful to you in converting WMV To DVD. - 23815
